Failure is something we experience in life that basically teaches us something about ourselves. A teaching that teaches us that we can try again or stop and be a failure. Accomplishment is a teaching as well. A teaching that teaches us that we can do anything we desire. We are human and we have what is call nerve impulses and sometime they can get the best of us (nutrition). Then again we can get the best out of bodies by good nutrition, prayer and water. You already know this and you will pass this time and by toy taking this test you will be the BOMB at nursing. Its your call.

Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention, I just graduated from the LVN program Aug 2nd, and is waiting for my test date as well. This was my second try in the LVN program, I failed it in the first of semester 06 . This time I made it, but was stressed in the second semester and made it by 2 points. A few of the student were questioning me on test days to see if I would make it, and I would blurt out " I don't know or I'm not sharing". It was none of their business. I have my days of feeling I won't pass, but I just tell myself I will pass because I'm studying my material in RN form and LVN form. And I will by the BOMB nurse.

I am grabbing onto to many books and online nclex reviews as possible. I hope I make it on my first testing, I pray to my heavenly father, I can't afford not graduating. Good luck to all of you and may those who have not passed the test yet, pass it soon! God bless.

I have also been out since 2001 and failed twice. Since then, I went to my plan B and went active duty Reserve in the Army. I think about passing the NCLEX all the time and it is a chapter in my life that I need to finish. I had some distractions along the way because I needed to get my MBA to be competitive for promotion to Major in the Army. As of today, I am getting motivated to study for the exam and plan to take it in Apr 09. The ladies that have been out for eight or 10 years have really motivated and inspired me to get back to studying and retake the exam. I thought it was too late for me since I have been out of school since 2001.

Hello! My name is Carolyn and I am new to this site. Just wanted to reply to this thread. I know first hand of what you are talking about because I graduated from nursing school since May of 2003 and I haven't passed my boards yet! I have taken the exam 4 times and when i take it again this time it will be the 5th time! The only thing is did was prayed and asked God to help me to get through this and take the anxiety away from me that I have when taking test. All I can do is trust God that i will PASS this time and so can everyone else!

I am planning on taking the NCLEX for the second time. I graduated 10 years ago as well. However, I have run into a big problem. My State Board of Nursing (Colorado) does not allow testing if it has been longer then three years since last NCLEX testing. Not sure what to do at this point. I am in the process of writing the Board now. Any comments are welcomed.

I went and looked and the State of Colorodo's web site and saw nothing to suggest this statement. However, I could be wrong.
At any rate, you can order my complete set to review for the NCLEX: http://caring4you.net/complete.html
Then I can write a letter for you for the State of Colorado saying that you took a NCLEX refresher course.
I have done this from time to time when asked. This is all I found from the BON in Colorado:
Licensure as a Registered or Practical Nurse
Colorado has a mandatory Nurse Practice Act which means that no one may practice professional (RN) or practical (PN) nursing without a Colorado license or temporary permit. There are two ways to become licensed, by examination and by endorsement.
Examination You should apply for a license by examination if:
You have completed a state approved professional nursing or practical nursing educational program and do not hold a license in another state or U.S. territory.
You were educated outside the U.S. or its territories, and are not licensed in another state or territory. However, you must first contact the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) to request the credentials review titled Healthcare Profession and Science Course-by-Course Report.
For information and helpful resources regarding NCLEX and nursing exams, visit the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCBSN) website. http://www.dora.state.co.us/nursing/licensing/requirements.htm
Hope this helps!~

Hello Anneliese and everyone I am new to this site and very glad I found it. I graduated from nursing school in 2002 and took the NCLEX-RN exam 3 times and was unsuccessful. It is now 2009 and 7 years later and I want to retake the exam and pass. After reading other comments it has helped me not feel so down about it and made me really want to do something about it. I am in TN and I think after three years you have to attend a board certified program again I was wondering if you know anything about this and what materials of yours will I need to start the study process? Thank you

Each State has different rules. The best way to find out these answers for individual states is to email or call your state board of nursing. Here is a list of all the boards of nursing:

What State are you testing in?
